We are constantly looking for and evaluating ways to reduce our carbon footprint and environmental impact, spending money where necessary on new technologies and innovations. Working with our clients we are continually looking at all options to provide a service geared around sustainability whilst being still being cost effective working to a high standard. One of our initiatives again spotted by our JSA team visiting Saltex is the use of battery/electric powered zero turn mowers in addition to existing battery powered hand tools.
JSA invited Overton Ltd down to demonstrate its CXR-52/60 battery powered machinery which a number of our operators trialed on the Heathrow Airport Campus. Heathrow has its own Sustainability 2.0 agenda to which we as suppliers are working with as a partner in addition to our own sustainability targets. The machinery performed well above expectations and JSA will now be looking to move away from engine powered machinery during the course of 2020 with the aim of having a totally electric fleet of ride on equipment.
